Parasol Helps New Restaurant Take a Bite Out of the Market
The Challenge: As new restaurants struggle to survive in challenging times, branding becomes even more critical. Angie Kirkpatrick, known for her previous restaurants Maxwell’s, In Limbo and Ithaca, and as the longtime manager of The Halfshell, wanted to open a restaurant called The Kitchen serving European fare.
For its location, she chose 715 West Brookhaven Circle, formerly home of the Caspian restaurant. The structure’s architecture said old-school ranch rather than old-world charm.
Angie had a vision. She toned down the building with a khaki and brown color scheme, accented the windows with wide wood shutters and window boxes and she widened the entrance with double doors. Despite making all of these improvements, she still felt that sense of “you’ve arrived somewhere special” was missing.
The Solution: Angie consulted Parasol Awnings about a canopy to promote her brand. She met with Parasol’s designer who was able to match Angie’s color scheme and create a two-tone fabric system that would help the logo “pop” for maximum impact. The designer also guided Angie through the many styles.
Angie selected an extended marquee canopy with curtains to create what she refers to as a “lovely entry.” It extends the building’s footprint outward, creating a grand entrance. The only thing missing is the red carpet.
“There were so many choices, and when I saw a project with this type of canopy and curtains, I knew it was perfect,” said Angie.
Parasol fabricated the canopy structure and the covers. The graphics department ensured the logo was elegant and prominent, using as much of the marquee facing as possible.
“Everything went great,” said Angie. “The installation was timely and went really smoothly. It looks wonderful and our customers enjoy having a large protected area to drop off guests when it rains or to hang out and say their good-byes.”
Due in large part to The Kitchen’s new grand exterior entrance, they are already taking a real bite out of the market.
