Interior Covers for Manufacturing Racks That Allow for Easy Access and Viewing

The Challenge: Jabil Global, which conducts performance testing on DIRECTV boxes, had an unusual problem for sure. In testing cable boxes, they must expose them to extreme heat to ensure durability. The boxes are placed on metal racks - about 50 to a rack. The racks must be covered in order to keep the heat in, but the production team must be able to see what's happening inside - so the covering has to be translucent in some way. The solution they had been using was to cover the racks in clear plastic Visqueen sealed with duct tape. Not happy with the time it took to unseal the duct tape each time they needed access to the racks, not to mention the unprofessional appearance of this low-tech solution, Jabil contacted Parasol to see if their team could custom design and engineer a better solution.

The Solution: Parasol came through. They were able to design a custom fabric solution to cover the racks with two important features - a see-through window panel and easy-to-access zip-up access ports. So enamored with the solution, Jabil has ordered nearly 100 of these custom coverings between its Memphis and San Jose, California facilities.
